Roles and Responsibilities:
The maintenance Technician is responsible for the completion of assigned maintenance projects in a safe and timely manner. Coordination with production schedules and department supervisors is required.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions:
- Commit to keeping high standards of food safety and product quality in all of Frick's Quality Meats' products.
- Actively practice safety and cleanliness in all aspects of the job.
- Know and practice proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Contribute to the team effort by working with associate members to ensure policies and procedures are properly followed.
- Working with and operating many different hand and power tools daily basis is possible.
- Perform all pre-production set-up activities in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support product development and improvement by discussing equipment needs and modifications with Plant Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintain company and product reputation by complying with OSHA, DOT, USDA, and other governmental agencies.
- As necessary; direct or instruct on proper safety and sanitation practices and use of safety and sanitary equipment.
- Ensure that safety and sanitation procedures are documented and available to all personnel.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision or as part of a team of Technicians.
- Offer assistance when needed and ask for it when required to maintain an efficient production process.
- Assist with product development trials and routine testing.
- Sustain a constant sense of urgency and high employee morale.
- Participate in training or continuing education programs to enhance industry knowledge and techniques.
- Project a positive attitude and protect Frick's Quality Meats, Inc. image of honesty, integrity, and fairness.
- Ability to work overtime as required by production needs.
- Other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

- Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Constantly inspects, repairs, removes, and replaces machinery and other production equipment.
- Climb or balance: Occasionally ascends/descends stairs and ladders to access and work on machinery and equipment.
- Stoop, kneel, or crawl: Constantly positions self to inspect materials and quality processes.
- Talk/hear: Frequently communicates with co-workers and supervisor(s) regarding maintenance needs and projects; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- See: Must be able to identify defects and inspect machinery and equipment.
- Smell: Able to detect ammonia.
Education:
- Associate's degree or Certification from Technical College preferred, OR combination of education and work experience.
Experience:
- Strong skills in the areas of electrical, plumbing, welding, hydraulics, diagnostics, tube bending, pipe threading, use of power tools and mechanical skills are required.
- Possess strong troubleshooting skills and be able to identify probable causes to determine the best course of action to resolve mechanical or electrical issues.
- Working on various types of drives, motors, and process controllers.
- Experience troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Knowledgeable in preventative and predictive maintenance.
- Must display leadership, facilitating, and teamwork skills; help set the standard for the department.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good analytical skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Reliability or a history of good attendance and ability to maintain good attendance.
