Warranty Engineer
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and optimization of warranty processes across American (USMCA) production partner sites.
- Conduct detailed customer warranty liability rate / root cause analyses, and warranty regression (predictive analyses based on historical data), to identify root causes of field issues, to drive corrective actions, and for warranty cost reduction.
- Analyze warranty field data and create standard reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in warranty case handling and field failure investigations.
- Plan and execute audits and/or visits at FNST sites, customers, product review areas, or dealers as required for problem solving and to reduce incidence rates.
- Provide operational support to sites during quality issues and NTF (No Trouble Found) processes.
- Support the evaluation of customer-specific requirements in collaboration with sales, site teams, and Legal.
- Assist in coordinating warranty-related discussions and negotiations with OEMs and suppliers.
- Participate in internal audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and improve warranty KPIs and dashboards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Engineering, Operations, Sales, Accounts Payable, and Legal) to ensure high quality, continuous improvement, robust manufacturing, problem-solving, preventive measures, and ensuring low debit charges.
- Support lessons-learned processes and knowledge sharing across regions.
- Facilitate data mining of NHTSA and enthusiast internet blogs for assisting in early warning detection and problem solving of system concerns influencing component performance.
- Facilitate notification and training of sales personnel and the various sites of Warranty Related topics such as Customer Portals and Customer Specific Requirements.
- Represent FNST and participate with trade associations such as AIAG, MEMA, Etc. to stay current on industry standards and practices.
- Willingness to travel within North America (up to 20%).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Quality Management Systems.
- 2–5 years of experience in quality, warranty, application engineering or customer support roles, ideally in the automotive or automotive supplier industry.
- Experience in field failure analysis and warranty procedures.
- Technical knowledge of sealing products is a plus.
- Familiarity with quality standards (e.g. ISO/TS 16949, IATF 16949) and automotive defect analysis.
- Proficiency in quality tools and statistical methods (e.g. 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI, Minitab).
