This is a temporary Part-time position.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Summary
The Commercial Driver Trainee position is temporary, up to six (6) months. This position is for trainees enrolled in the Fresno EOC Commercial Driver Training Program to receive hands-on training and instruction for obtaining a Class B Commercial License. Transports passengers to and from their destination by driving a 7-passenger van under the supervision of a Transit Supervisor.
Assist in the fulfillment of the agency’s vision, “For Those We Serve,” by empowering individuals who thrive as healthy, self-sufficient and contributing members of our communities.
Duties And Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Safely transports passengers from designated pick up and drop off locations.
Ensures all passengers are properly secured.
Operates wheelchair lift properly for loading and unloading.
Ensured all wheelchair equipment is stored properly prior to movement of vehicle.
Fosters and maintains good rapport with passengers.
Operates vehicle in all-weather and terrain conditions.
Uses two-way radios, table and GPS systems.
Effectively responds to emergency situations.
Preforms, documents and submits daily vehicle condition reports.
Reads, interprets and follows maps and GPS.
Performs arithmetic calculations.
Responsible for collection of fares and Scrip tickets.
Travels for agency business using personal/agency vehicle.
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
Works evenings and weekends as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education
High school diploma or GED.
Experience
6 months of related experience, including the safe operation of motor vehicle required.
Other Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license, reliable transportation, adequate auto insurance as required by State law and insurability by agency carrier.
Pass a criminal background investigation and maintain criminal clearance.
Must possess and maintain acceptable DMV driving history.
Willing to work non-traditional hours and days to meet the needs of this position.
Pass required drug and alcohol testing prior to employment; will be subject to continual urine and breath alcohol testing throughout employment.
Must be enrolled in the Fresno EOC Commercial Driver Training Program for Passenger Endorsement Transportation class.
