ABOUT FRESH YOUTH INITIATIVES (FYI)

FYI is a dynamic community-based organization that partners with young people to develop their leadership and build their legacy. Founded in 1993, FYI supports the immigrant and first-generation youth of Washington Heights and Inwood to grow as healthy, successful, lifelong learners. FYI operates programs at four sites in Washington Heights and Inwood where 1,300 children in grades Pre-K to 12 participate in afterschool, weekend, and summer programs annually. Using a positive youth development model, FYI provides holistic, culturally responsive programming, including educational, social-emotional, service-learning, college and career access, and mental health services to youth as well as mental health and social services support to their families through an anti-oppression lens. With an annual budget of $4.3M and 70 staff members, FYI is continuing its growth trajectory to meet the needs of youth and families in the community. JOB DESCRIPTION

FYI is seeking a corporate and individual development and volunteer manager to build and lead community engagement, donor engagement, and corporate fundraising for our programs. This person will lead corporate and individual donor relations including development, communications, and volunteer coordination. Qualified applicants will need a wide variety of skills that center around strong communications, project management and interpersonal relations. A successful candidate is a natural storyteller with a passion for youth and community work who is comfortable and effective working in a fast-paced environment with a diverse and talented team, and comfortable with local travel to FYI’s program sites. This role is full time and on-site.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising Responsibilities

· Lead the development and coordination of FYI’s individual and corporate giving programs outside of foundation grants, including event management, online giving, and corporate relations.

· Outreach, prospect, cultivate, and sustain relationships with individual and corporate donors.

· Manage FYI’s individual donor cultivation through creative engagement using relevant platforms and relationship building.

· Write and edit individual donor appeals, corporate sponsorship decks, and event invitations.

· Manage FYI’s event fundraising strategy (both virtual and live) for annual gala, auction, online drives, etc., including:

o Logistical Planning

o Prospecting and Invitations

o Sponsorship and/or Ticket Sales

o Program Content

o Development Strategy

Volunteer Coordination Responsibilities

· Utilize our corporate relationships to build a volunteer program that provides programming for our participants. Outreach and cultivate volunteers from the community into opportunities to support program, operations, etc.

· Manage FYI’s corporate and individual volunteer activities – approximately 12 per year – including internal coordination with program staff.

· Build and manage CRM systems to recruit, manage and support volunteers including ongoing volunteer coordination and one-off volunteer experiences.

· Utilize volunteer and donor relationships for mutual support and to create new opportunities for engagement with FYI.

Communications Responsibilities

· Support the development and execution of FYI’s communications plan by keeping our stakeholders engaged and informed in order to better cultivate our donor base.

· Take the lead on producing regular communications to stakeholders (e.g. newsletter, updates, email lists, etc.) in collaboration with the Grant Manager, Executive Director, and Communications Intern.

· Support internal communications to support staff cohesion, engagement, and buy-in.

· Administrative support for the Executive Director around board engagement and operations, e.g. scheduling, correspondence, updating materials, keeping policies current, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS

The ideal candidate is an effective relationship-builder and a nimble writer, able to tailor messaging to FYI’s various stakeholders (e.g., individual donors, board members, institutional funders, participants, families, and community) with strong graphic design skills; has a keen understanding of digital strategy, results, and analytics. Roots in and ties to FYI’s service community and focus on positive youth development are a plus.

· 2-3 years in a nonprofit development/communications office

· Bachelor's degree, advanced degree, or equivalent experience required

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and G-Suite

· Proficiency in Squarespace or comparable platform; basic HTML; and experience in maintaining and building websites a plus

· Proficiency in Canva Pro, Mail Chimp, and Adobe InDesign, or a similar program preferred

· Photographic skills a plus

· Strong organizational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail

· Highly energetic, proactive, and resourceful; comfortable in a fast-paced environment; able to work in a team and build relationships with diverse stakeholders

· Bilingual Spanish a plus

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
