GENERAL
Serves as front office and back-office patient care support to the Medical Program. Applicants Must:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Have personal transportation with valid drivers license
- Fluent in Spanish/English
- Must be a Certified Medical Assistant
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides administrative support to the Chief Medical Program Officer
- Reports directly to the Manager of Medical Operations w dotted line to Chief Medical Program Officer
- Prepares and delivers charts and medical supplies for all patients being seen during Surgery Weekends and Clinics.
- Assists with coordinating front office functions during Surgery Weekends.
- Takes medical photographs of patients.
- Schedules and organizes patient appointments with Manager of Medical Operations
- Updates patient appointment information and status in online scheduling program (Filemaker Pro)
- Assists the Manager of Medical Operations in pre-operative and post-operative visits, including changing bandages and dressings of patients.
- Assists Patient Review/Case Manager with screening prospective patients as assigned according to the telephone protocol or provides referrals for those persons who do not qualify as Fresh Start patients.
- Provides translation for patients, staff, and documents.
- Coordinates with Manager of Medical Operations for transportation and preparation of immigration permits for those patients who need it.
- Assists in answering phone, screening, and directing calls.
- Scans patients’ photos, downloads digital photos and prepares all patient photo pages for patient charts.
- Maintains up-to-date documentation regarding all patient contact, including phone conversations and clinical visits.
- All assigned patients are to have quarterly care plan and contact updates in FileMaker.
- Assists Manager Medical Operations in preparing presentations for Medical Program Committee.
- Assists the Chief Medical Programs Officer and Manager of Medical Programs with staff support to the Medical Program Committee.
- Participate in self-development by seeking out cross training opportunities in all areas covered by the medical assistant team.
- Ability to work flexible assignments within standard business of 8-5 pm; and the ability to work weekends and extended hours to support Surgery weekend.
- Attends all Surgery Weekend activities planned six times a year.
- Seeks opportunities to promote growth and development in annual reviews and throughout the year by setting quarterly goals and milestones with Chief Medical Program Officer
- Attends patient outreach fairs as assigned; may be assigned as lead for specific partnerships and/or medical partners.
- Assists Director of Specialty Clinics as needed with annual staff immunizations.
- Works in team collaboration with all co-workers when necessary and appropriate.
- Responsible for upholding the regulations and standards dictated by the state, OSHA and HIPAA.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and employee information and instill this value in all program volunteers.
- Extend a courteous and positive attitude and cooperation while collaborating with volunteers, staff, and personnel from local medical centers.
- Uphold the philosophy of Fresh Start and conduct daily activities in such a manner that the mission statement is reflected to the patient population, volunteers, and the community.

EDUCATION
- High School Graduate
- Graduate of Medical Assistant Program or equivalent experience
- Graduate of Emergency Medical Technician program (NREMT)
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Pediatric medical experience a plus.
- Fluent in Spanish/English.
- Computer proficiency a must (Microsoft Office Products and Electronic Health Record Programs)
- Clean DMV record.
- Current Passport or the ability to obtain one.

- Meet all deadlines as assigned.
- Deliver quality care by doing quality work.
- Must be able to lift 45 pounds.

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
