Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assess, diagnose, and manage care for critically ill newborns in the NICU or neonatal setting. Perform procedures such as intubation, central line insertion, and other neonatal interventions within scope of practice.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to develop and implement care plans. Participate in rounds and team discussions on patient status and treatment plans.
- Monitor and Manage Patients: Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests, lab results, and imaging. Prescribe medications within the NNP scope, manage ongoing treatments, and adjust care plans as needed.
- Family Education and Support: Communicate patient condition, treatment plans, and progress with families. Provide guidance and support to parents in the NICU setting.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with regulatory standards. Ensure adherence to hospital policies, protocols, and quality care initiatives.
- Professional Development and Quality Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and continuing education to maintain NNP certification. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the neonatal care unit.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in Nursing
- Board Certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) – REQUIRED
- Clean malpractice/license history – HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Valid DEA license (must be obtained prior to start; no exemptions)
- Valid CSR/CDS (must be obtained prior to start; no exemptions)
- Valid NNP license
- NPI number (required)
- Candidates must indicate if they require visa support (J1 or H1B)
