Position Summary
Fresh Start Market and Boutique is a faith-based non-profit second-hand store, with retail proceeds donated to flood recovery organizations.
The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance, profitability, and operational excellence of Fresh Start Market and Boutique. This role provides strategic leadership to drive sales, enhance customer experience, develop high-performing teams, and ensure compliance with the organization standards, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership
- Lead all aspects of daily retail operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and compliance with company policies.
- Oversee store standards including store displays, inventory control, cash management, marketing, and safety procedures.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Order supplies that are used on a weekly basis
- All other duties as assigned
Sales & Financial Performance
- Drive revenue growth and profitability by executing sales strategies and promotional initiatives.
- Develop and manage operating budgets, labor controls, and expense management.
- Create marketing materials and strategies, including but not limited to curating social media posts.
- Monitor financial reports and take corrective action as needed to achieve business goals.
- Pay organization bills when due.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, coach, and retain a high-performing department management and associate team.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Customer Experience
- Champion an exceptional customer experience by modeling service excellence.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure consistent brand representation and customer satisfaction across all touchpoints.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Board of Directors and other community organizations to fulfill the mission of the non-profit organization.
- ·mplement company initiatives, programs, and process improvements at the store level.
- Evaluate and support store improvement initiatives and seasonal changes, as applicable.
Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma of GED Equivalent.
- Proven success in driving sales, managing budgets, and leading teams.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret financial and operational data.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
Preferred
- Experience in retail operations.
- Associate's degree or higher in Business, Management, or related field.
- Familiarity with retail reporting tools, POS systems, and workforce management software.
Physical & Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the store for extended periods.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds if required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation to be commensurate with experience
- Bonus eligibility: Year-end depending on performance
