Position Title: REPS Coach

Reports To: REPS Program Manager 

Community: San Mateo County 

Office Location: San Mateo, CA - Juvenile Hall

Compensation: $28.19/hour, generous benefits package

Status: Full-time, non-exempt

 

REPS Coach - Position Summary

The REPS Program builds skills around agency, self-sufficiency, and self-advocacy in transitional-age young people that are sentenced to long-term incarceration and supports them in accomplishing their goals on their individual rehabilitation plans. 

The REPS Coach provides direct coaching and transition support for incarcerated youth participating in the REPS program. Coaches work closely with youth to support rehabilitation goals, skill development, self advocacy and preparation for step-down programming and community reintegration. In addition to providing one on one and group support within the institutional setting, the coach supports youth participating in community passes and collaborates with system, school and community stakeholders to help youth navigate transitions successfully.

 

Position Responsibilities

Provide ongoing case management/coaching for incarcerated youth

  • Meet with youth regularly to build rapport and conduct assessments
  • Support and coach youth as they navigate their long term sentence, step-down and eventually prepare for Reentry services and community integration
  • Support youth participating in community passes by providing coaching, transition support, accountability planning and coordination with key stakeholders
  • Support facilitation of weekly workshops and program activities in collaboration with REPS team
  • Enter data to track youth progress throughout the program

Provide ongoing case/crisis management for 10-15 Program Youth in Long Term Incarceration

  • Meet with each youth on caseload for 8 hours per month (this includes both group and individual contacts)
  • Provide crisis management and support to youth as needed. 
  • Conduct intakes with each youth on caseload (which will include a Service Learning Plan and a variety of assessments)
  • Assist youth with locating and receiving outside services to address identified needs
  • Attend youth court dates regularly 
  • Provide general Programmatic and administrative support

Collaborate and Engage with School, Community, and System Stakeholders 

  • Participate and engage in systems, community, and school meetings/events to understand the needs of the secure environment 
  • Maintain positive relationships with school, community, and system providers, including probation officers,and unit staff 
  • Lead efforts supporting youth in participating in systems spaces that allow them to elevate their voice, engage in advocacy, celebrate their accomplishments, and take action on issues impacting youth and the community
  • Lead external presentations about FLY’s REPS Program and represent the agency at community meetings, as needed
  • Independently navigate and coordinate with institutional and community stakeholders to to advocate for youth needs and rehabilitation planning while balancing FLY’s strategic relationships and priorities

 

Compensation & Benefits

This position is a full-time non-exempt role at a rate of $28.19/hour. Our Total Rewards Package also includes the following:
