Job Summary

As the Assistant Director of the Nutrition Lab (at Mayo Clinic), you will direct the successful operation of Food & Nutrition Services Nutrition Lab operation (formula and human milk preparation in a hospital setting). This position serves as the primary liaison between the Nutrition Lab and the client’s Clinical Nutrition and nursing teams, ensuring seamless coordination, high quality service delivery, and alignment with department goals. This role supports the operational, educational, and project based needs of the Nutrition Lab. • This position has direct reports with approximately 12 FTEs, including managers, supervisors and Nutrition Technicians
• Nutrition Technicians are responsible for preparing human milk and formula orders for neonatal, infant, pediatric, and adult populations.
• Successful applicants will have a strong leadership mentality, relationship building & time management skills, problem solving capability, and decision-making skills. 
  
  

 

Work Schedule:  

• Full Time 
• 8 to 10-hour shifts 
• Hours variable, typically from 6:45 am to 5:30 pm 
• Typically Monday – Friday, weekends as needed to support key initiatives
• Flexible paid time off (FTO)
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Develops goals and oversees execution of Nutrition Lab operations in alignment with clinical nutrition priorities, medical direction, and patient population needs.
• Maintains excellent relationships with team members, care team, and clients.
• Hires, leads, directs, trains, develops, evaluates Nutrition Lab staff ensuring strong competency, productivity, and adherence to quality standards.
• Implements strategies that promote collaboration, operational efficiency, and high quality patient outcomes.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, confidentiality, HIPAA, and patient rights standards.
• Participates in and may lead patient satisfaction initiatives, departmental meetings, and Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.
• Other job duties as assigned.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian credentialed by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) preferred
• Minimum of two years of experience in leadership or managerial responsibilities
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal. 
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
