Job Description:
Act as the Produce clerk/Lead for the store, providing first class customer service at all times. Greeting customers and assisting them with questions, recommendations and reaching for items. Responsible for the ordering of all product from numerous different vendors utilizing multiple ordering systems. Merchandise all department areas to maximize sales and appearance. Ensure that the product in your department is within code date. Ensure all product scans and is properly departmentalized. Reducing short-dated items to minimize loss. Advise the management on necessary product or policy changes. Following health regulations and safety standards.
Assist in the general operation of the store when necessary, to include cashiering, vendor affairs, deposit returns, etc…
Duties will include, but not limited to: ordering (wholesalers and direct), cashiering, manipulating various software that runs systems, fronting and facing product, stocking, cleaning, notifying management of system errors, system input and specified customer service
Job duties and responsibilities often include:
- Ordering produce from suppliers
- Washing and trimming produce
- Training other employees in the produce department
- Weighing fruits and vegetables
- Assisting customers with produce purchases
- Washing and inspecting incoming produce shipments
- Taking produce inventory
- Ensuring all produce displayed is fresh and suitable for purchase
Produce Clerk Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of produce quality, hygiene, safety, and food preparation.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the job such as lifting and carrying heavy items, climbing ladders, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
- Valid Oregon Food Handler's card

Compensation:
$19.00 per hour/$28.50 overtime rate, negotiable after performance review (90 day minimum) up to $22 per hour starting (starting wage based on experience)
Standard State Sick Time will apply for 1st year (1 hr earned for every 32 worked), 60 HRS P.T.O. after 1 consecutive year of employment, 100 HRS P.T.O after 2 consecutive years of employment
