The Transportation Planner coordinates the planning and execution of the day-to-day transportation operations within NA Logistics. Specific responsibility for maintaining appropriate transportation service and quality levels within the Salad business segments. Work closely with customer service, carrier partners, accounting, and his/her peers to ensure that this is accomplished.

Varied shifts Monday – Friday with rotating weekends

Role and Responsibilities

• Shipment Planning – Plan, route and set pick-up and delivery appointments for all orders within transportation management system to ensure the cost and service parameters are effectively achieved. Tender shipments in accordance with approved routing guides proved by Fresh Express carrier relations management. Communicate with Fresh Express carriers to ensure that loads are managed properly, and capacity commitments are met.
• Shipment coordination – provide execution support as required to achieve or exceed Fresh Express on time delivery and Quality/ Cold Chain performance goals. Ensure customer requirements regarding equipment, pick-up time, delivery dates are met or be able to offer suitable alternatives. Pro-actively work with the customer service group on potential issues.
• Carrier Relationship Management – maintain positive and productive relationship with all carriers to ensure appropriate service level.
• Demonstrate proficiency in working within portions of the transportation management system that involve rate maintenance, optimization, routing guides, facility/carrier profiles and settlement.
• Ensure accuracy of carrier performance data; establish a format to review on time performance with Transportation Manager and carrier operations personnel.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Associated Degree – Business Management or equivalent work experience
• At least one year transportation/logistics experience
• Understanding of LTL transportation
• High degree of interpersonal skills
• Multi-tasking capabilities
• Very detail oriented
• High degree of stress tolerance
• Knowledge of transportation management

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor's Degree
• Driver dispatch experience
