What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packer 2nd shift position at Fresh Express?
The Packer Position is responsible for packing bags of finished goods into corrugated boxes and containers for the duration of 8 hours or more depending on volume and according to customer specification.
Job Function Statements Essential Functions:
- Pack finished bags into boxes in a timely manner and to the pace of the packaging machine or production line.
- Lift bags of finished product (up to 35 lbs.) throughout duration of the shift.
- Make boxes by lifting the corrugated strips and folding them into a box.
- Places products into containers and seals containers by using case sealing machine.
- Operates tape machine using proper tape and code dates to be applied to boxes.
- Examines and inspects boxes, materials, product codes and products to ensure that packaging specifications are met.
- Inspects overall condition of box and verifies weight
- Replenishes packaging supplies as needed
- Handle product that may have a temperature of 32-36 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift (8 hours or more), perform repetitive motions throughout shift such as push/pull/lift, bend continuously throughout the shift, lift up to 50 pounds, and be able to climb stairs or step up onto a platform several times throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work in a noisy, wet and cold environment of approximately 36 degrees Fahrenheit
- Must be able to work 6 consecutive days, overtime and weekends if necessary
- Must be able to count
