Systems Engineer- Voice Systems

The Position: 

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team at our Columbia, MD office. This position is an in-office role and reports directly to the Engineering Manager, Voice Systems. The Systems Engineer is responsible for the architecture, engineering, and hands-on integration/implementation of Frequentis Voice Communications Systems for mission critical air traffic control and command and control customers.

What You’ll Do: 

• Provide systems integration engineering for software and hardware systems, subsystems, and modules
• Design and document comprehensive test procedures, conduct system verification and validation, and troubleshoot and resolve complex issues during system upgrades and enhancements
• Document discrepancies and interface with hardware and software development teams to test and remedy problem areas
• Monitor system compliance with customer requirements and industry standards
• Perform collection, analysis, and reporting of operational data for use in maintenance, performance optimization, and planning for future enhancements/upgrades
• Analyze and implement system configurations to meet security standards
• Create and review technical documentation including system architectures and specification sheets
• Responsible for trouble ticket generation and resolution
• Interfaces with other leads and teams to ensure collaboration as it affects design goals and deliverables
• Takes ownership of engineering related deliverables & their technical compliance
• Support customer site system deployments and maintenance activities as required
• Other duties as assigned

Who You Are: 

• 1-5 years’ experience designing, integrating, and deploying complex, integrated hardware and software systems
• Must have experience with Linux (RHEL preferred)
• Experience creating or integrating highly available mission critical solutions from company proprietary and commercial components
• System engineering experience in telecommunications/telephony and radio communications systems and related technologies (Analog, TDM, VoIP, UHF, VHF, etc.)
• Experience in integrating IT system technologies (servers, routers, networks, operating systems)
• BS in Engineering, Electronics Technology, Information Technology or equivalent experience with telecommunications and IT hardware and software
• Experience with network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark)
• Experience working with analog and digital telecommunications test tools (e.g., Transmission Test Sets, T1 Analyzers, Audio Analyzers)
• Ability to work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects
• Authorized to work in US with the ability/susceptibility to obtain a DoD security clearance
• Willing to travel 25% of the time to customer sites for site surveys and system deployments (local and international)

Pay Range:

• The expected salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000 annually
