Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, while maintaining accurate records.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized animals, including monitoring vital signs and administering fluids.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the clinic, including proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Handle animals safely and effectively during examinations or treatments, utilizing proper restraint techniques.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experiences:
- Previous veterinary technician/veterinary assistant experience is required.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and husbandry practices.
- Experience with animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and critical care is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment used in veterinary medicine.
