Position Summary
Responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the wastewater treatment facility and related processes. Ensures operations comply with applicable Michigan and federal environmental regulations and Company requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and processes.
- Perform required sampling, testing, inspections, and recordkeeping.
- Maintain accurate laboratory data, operating logs, DMRs, and compliance documentation.
- Monitor wastewater, stormwater, and sludge management activities.
- Perform or assist with routine and emergency maintenance and repairs.
- Troubleshoot equipment and treatment process issues and communicate needed repairs.
- Respond to plant emergencies, equipment breakdowns, and alarms, including on-call situations.
- Perform required weekend checks of the wastewater treatment facility.
- Communicate with Operations and Maintenance regarding treatment processes and equipment.
- Safely handle and store chemicals used in wastewater treatment.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow all Company safety, environmental, and operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain mill wide established housekeeping programs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2 years of wastewater treatment experience preferred.
- Industrial or papermill wastewater experience preferred.
- Michigan Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator license preferred.
- Michigan A-1B, B-2A, C-3A, or C-3B certification preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment, maintain accurate records, and work independently.
