Job Title: Cashier Dept: Front End
Accountability: Front End Manager
Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Front End Manager and FESP, cashier uses good judgment and common sense to ensure successful functioning of the department. Operates cash register, bags groceries, does carry-outs, stocks and keeps department clean, while providing customers with excellent service. Also contributes to team-building. Other duties as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
Customer Service
- Provides prompt, friendly, courteous customer service.
- Commits to providing a knowledgeable response to all customer inquiries.
- Addresses customer complaints or concerns swiftly and effectively so they feel that things have been “made right.”
- Assists customers with product information and special requests.
- Processes returns in accordance with FBFC’s policies.
- Keeps informed about membership issues and promotes membership whenever possible.
Communication
- Communicates openly and honestly with all others in the organization.
- Communicates respectfully at all times.
- Utilizes professional and courteous telephone etiquette.
- Does not expose customers to internal disagreements.
- Encourages recycling throughout the store and community.
- Resolves conflicts respectfully and in a timely manner.
Department Merchandising and Maintenance
- Ensures department is clean and orderly, including sweeping the front entrance.
- Maintains cleanliness of tables and chairs in the customer seating areas.
- Makes sure carts are unlocked at the beginning of the day and locked at the end of the day.
- Keeps carts and baskets fully stocked at the entrance to the store.
- Ensures clear, attractive, consistent signage.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
Personal Effectiveness
- Reports to work for scheduled shifts on-time and appropriately dressed.
- Does not clock out later than scheduled time, unless agreed upon by Front End Manager, Manager on Duty, or General Manager.
- Accepts and offers feedback and suggestions openly and respectfully.
- Accepts direction willingly and follows through with delegated tasks.
- Provides a positive model for co-workers, regarding customer service and FBFC policies as outlined in the Employee Manual.
