Job Title: Veterinary Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Previous experience is required and would prefer an Approved/Certified candidate to match the highly educated team we currently have. The ideal candidate will assist our veterinary staff in providing exceptional care to our animal patients. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the clinic, ensuring the well-being of animals under our care.
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately (Fear Free Certified or at least willing to use methods)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment areas, examination rooms and surgical areas
- Provide basic animal care such as feeding, grooming, and exercising
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Assist with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
- When Client Service Representatives need assistance, manage client communications by greeting them, scheduling appointments, and answering phone calls.
Qualifications:
- Passion for pet care and animal husbandry
- Previous work as a veterinary assistant or in a related field is required (Approved/Certified candidate to match the highly educated team we currently have is preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Basic computer skills for documenting patient information.
- Physical ability to restrain larger animals and perform physically demanding tasks.
