- Previous coaching experience or participation in track and field preferred.
- Knowledge of track and field techniques, safety practices, and event rules.

- Must meet all district and state coaching requirements including background checks, certifications, and training.
- Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and competitions.
- Help instruct athletes in track and field techniques, conditioning, and event strategies appropriate for middle school participants.
- Assist with supervision of student-athletes during practices, meets, and team activities.
- Support the Head Coach in maintaining team discipline, sportsmanship, and positive team culture.
- Ensure proper supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, and travel.
- Help monitor athletes for injuries or safety concerns and report issues to the Head Coach or appropriate personnel.
- Assist with implementation of district athletic policies and procedures.
- Assist with meet preparation including equipment setup and facility preparation.
- Help maintain team rosters, attendance records, and athlete eligibility documentation as directed by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
- Support communication of schedules, expectations, and team updates to student-athletes.
- Assist in the care, inventory, and proper storage of athletic equipment and uniforms.
- Help ensure facilities and equipment are used safely and responsibly.
- Encourage student-athletes to respect school property and equipment.
- Promote positive behavior, academic responsibility, and sportsmanship among athletes.
- Encourage teamwork, confidence, and personal growth in all participants.
- Serve as a positive mentor and role model for student-athletes.
- Work cooperatively with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, school staff, and parents.
- Represent the Fremont RE-2 School District in a professional and positive manner.
- Maintain appropriate communication regarding team activities and student needs.
- Attend required coaches meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, or Principal.
- Requires after-school practices and attendance at track meets during the season.

Work is primarily outdoors and may include standing, walking, lifting equipment, and demonstrating athletic skills.

Job Description
Reports To: Head Track Coach, Athletic Director, and Building Principal
Supervises: Student-athletes participating in the middle school track and field program under the direction of the Head Coach.
Job Goal: The Assistant Middle School Track Coach supports the Head Coach in organizing and directing the middle school track and field program. The assistant coach helps instruct student-athletes in fundamental track and field skills, conditioning, and sportsmanship while promoting teamwork, responsibility, and positive character development.
