Position Summary
The Wellness Coach delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants by creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment. This role is directly responsible for monitoring and instructing members on the proper use of exercise equipment, supporting their health and wellness goals, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the wellness area.
Essential Functions
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting members by name and engaging them in conversations about their wellness goals.
- Conduct New Member Orientation sessions to support engagement and retention.
- Supervise wellness center floor activity to ensure proper use of equipment and safety of members.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wellness center, including daily equipment checks and cleaning.
- Assist with set-up, breakdown, and cleaning of group exercise equipment as needed.
- Promote YMCA programs and services such as Group Exercise, Personal Training, and Wellness events.
- Consistently cover the floor during assigned shift to ensure visibility and accessibility to members.
- Respond to emergencies and administer CPR/First Aid when necessary.
- Uphold YMCA standards of professionalism, service, and mission: For Youth Development, For Healthy Living, For Social Responsibility.
- The employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or background in Health, Exercise Science, or related field preferred.
- Personal Training, Group Exercise, or Coaching certifications are a plus.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working early morning hours.
- Must demonstrate personal commitment to the YMCA mission and values.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the wellness center for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and demonstrate safe use of fitness equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multitasking.
- Sufficient mobility, strength, and agility to perform essential job functions.
