Job Title: Group Fitness Instructor
Location: Fremont Family YMCA
Reports To: Wellness Director
Position Summary:
The Fremont Family YMCA is seeking energetic and passionate Group Fitness Instructors to lead engaging, safe, and effective fitness classes for our members. We are currently hiring instructors for a variety of formats, including Water Aerobics, Pilates, Barre, and Les Mills classes, and Zumba/dance.
Our ideal candidates are enthusiastic about helping members reach their wellness goals, create a positive class environment, and represent the Y’s mission of strengthening community through healthy living.
Responsibilities:
- Lead safe, fun, and effective group fitness classes according to YMCA and industry standards.
- Deliver high-quality instruction
- Provide appropriate modifications and progressions for all fitness levels.
- Build positive relationships with class participants, encouraging consistent attendance and engagement.
- Arrive early to prepare the class area, music, and equipment; stay after class to ensure cleanliness and organization.
- Must be reliable and on-time
- Follow YMCA policies and uphold the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
- Communicate effectively with the Wellness Manager regarding scheduling, equipment needs, and member feedback.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire participants.
- For Water Aerobics: Must be comfortable teaching in the water and have experience leading aquatic fitness classes.
Schedule & Compensation:
- Part-time, flexible hours
- Pay rate based on experience and certification(s).
