Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the key representative and advocate for the Chamber, providing strategic leadership and effective management to achieve organizational goals. This role oversees daily operations, builds strategic partnerships, and drives initiatives that empower our local business community. Working closely with the Chamber Board, local government, and community organizations, the Executive Director will play a key role in advancing Fremont’s economic prosperity.
Strategic Leadership & Advocacy
- Develop annual strategic priorities in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Monitor local, state, and federal legislation affecting businesses; prepare position statements and advocate on behalf of members.
- Represent the Chamber at city council meetings, economic development forums, and regional business coalitions.
- Identify emerging trends and propose initiatives that strengthen Fremont’s business climate.
Operational & Financial Management
- Prepare and manage the annual operating budget, present monthly financial reports to the Board.
- Oversee compliance with nonprofit governance standards and Chamber bylaws.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient office operations.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors, service providers, and event venues.
Membership Development & Engagement
- Design and execute membership recruitment campaigns.
- Conduct regular outreach to prospective members and follow up on leads.
- Develop tiered membership benefits packages to increase value and retention.
- Maintain accurate membership records and track engagement metrics.
Community & Business Relations
- Serve as the Chamber’s spokesperson in media interviews, press releases, and public appearances.
- Build partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and civic organizations to promote workforce development.
- Facilitate roundtables, forums, and listening sessions with business leaders.
- Respond promptly to member inquiries and provide resources to support their growth.
Event & Program Management
- Plan and execute annual signature events (e.g., Business Expo, Awards Banquet, Holiday Parade).
- Coordinate ribbon cuttings, networking mixers, and educational workshops.
- Secure sponsorships and partnerships to fund Chamber programs.
- Evaluate event success through attendance, member feedback, and ROI analysis.
Staff & Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, train, and supervise Chamber staff and interns.
- Provide professional development opportunities and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate volunteer committees and task forces to support Chamber initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience, ideally within a Chamber of Commerce, nonprofit, or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of business operations, board functions, economic development, and community engagement.
- Demonstrated success in managing and supporting staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders including business leaders, government officials, and community members.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management, and fundraising preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, or related field (preferred but not required).
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: $60,000 – $75,000
- Health stipend
