SUMMARY 

The Events & Hospitality Assistant Manager plays a key role in supporting both the Events and Hospitality functions of the winery, working closely with the Sr. Hospitality & Events Manager to ensure seamless day-to-day operations and the successful execution of all events. At the heart of this role is a strong focus on guest service, creating exceptional, memorable experiences that reflect Gloria Ferrer’s commitment to warm, approachable hospitality. This position blends team leadership, event planning and execution, and revenue-driving initiatives, while consistently upholding our standards of safety, sustainability, and quality.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Leadership

  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and development of Hospitality and Events team members.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and leadership to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Partner with the Sr. Hospitality & Events Manager on performance management and employee development.
  • Create and manage team schedules in compliance with Wage & Hour laws and business needs.
  • Foster a positive, engaged, and service-oriented team culture.
  • Lead team meetings to communicate goals, updates, and safety practices.

Hospitality Operations

  • Oversee daily hospitality operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
  • Maintain facility standards including cleanliness, safety, and presentation of all guest areas.
  • Manage retail and wine inventory, including audits, reconciliations, and reordering.
  • Support sales goals through guest engagement, upselling, and wine club conversions.
  • Perform hospitality duties as needed, including hosting, wine education, and POS transactions.

Events Management & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of events including private, corporate, club, and winery events.
  • Manage event logistics including vendor coordination, timelines, and on-site execution.
  • Conduct site visits and build strong client relationships.
  • Support business development efforts to grow event revenue and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and DTC teams to promote events and enhance guest engagement.
  • Ensure accurate event documentation, contracts, and financial reconciliation. 

Financial & Strategic Support

  • Support revenue generation, budgeting, and cost control initiatives.
  • Track and communicate progress toward sales and event goals.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in developing promotions and experiences that drive brand loyalty.

Safety & Compliance

  • Support and enforce Gloria Ferrer’s safety program in partnership with HR and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold operational standards.

Other Responsibilities 

  • Support and model Gloria Ferrer culture and standards in all interactions, including ethical conduct and compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet evolving business needs.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, or a related field preferred; or 3–5 years of progressive experience in hospitality, events, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that prepares the individual for success in this role.
  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution, including private events, corporate functions, and/or food & beverage or catering operations.
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences while driving sales, membership growth, and overall revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of hospitality operations, with wine industry experience highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage guests, lead teams, and represent the brand.
  • Natural leader with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members while fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate needs, prioritize effectively, and execute with consistency.
  • Proactive communicator who builds strong cross-functional relationships and keeps teams aligned and informed.
  • Proficiency in business systems and technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Commerce7, TOCK, and CRM platforms.
  • Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business and event needs.
  • Must hold Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) and Food Handler certifications or be able to obtain within required compliance timelines.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear. The role also involves frequent use of hands to operate computers and provide food and beverage service.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 48 pounds (e.g., case of wine, event supplies, etc.).
  • Must be able to navigate indoor and outdoor areas, including walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs.
  • Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including during varying weather conditions.
  • Must have visual and auditory ability to engage with guests and team members and drive (golf cart) clearly and safely.

COMPENSATION

  • $70,000 - $82,000 plus KPI and incentive bonus Final determination will be dependent on candidates overall skills and qualifications.
