Our client, a dynamic and established freight forwarder in the Dallas area, is seeking a dedicated Freight Forwarding Agent with a strong emphasis on airfreight operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage airfreight shipments from origin to destination, including booking with airlines, preparing documentation, and tracking cargo in real-time.
- Handle customs brokerage processes, ensuring compliance with international regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements (e.g., FAA, TSA, and IATA standards).
- Liaise with clients, carriers, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues, provide status updates, and negotiate rates for airfreight services.
- Prepare and review shipping documents such as air waybills (AWBs), commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Monitor shipment timelines, anticipate delays due to weather, customs holds, or capacity constraints, and implement contingency plans.
- Optimize routing and consolidation of air cargo to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records in logistics software systems (e.g., familiarity with CargoWise or similar platforms).
- Support occasional ocean or ground freight tasks as needed, but with primary focus on airfreight volumes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, including airfreight market fluctuations, fuel surcharges, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in freight forwarding, with at least 1 year focused on airfreight operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Strong knowledge of airfreight processes, including IATA Dangerous Goods regulations and perishable cargo handling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build relationships with international partners.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate global time zones and urgent shipments.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; no sponsorship available.
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
