The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for preparing, filing, and tracking import documentation to ensure compliant and timely clearance of shipments through U.S. Customs and other government agencies. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process customs entries for air & ocean import shipments.
- Review commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
- Verify duty rates, free trade agreement eligibility, PGA (Partner Government Agency) requirements, and other compliance elements.
- Submit entries via ACE and monitor for Customs releases, exams, and holds.
- Communicate with clients regarding shipment status, required documents, and compliance matters.
- Coordinate with carriers, warehouses, and internal departments to ensure smooth cargo movement.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation meets Customs and company standards.
- Stay current on U.S. Customs regulations, rulings, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in a customs brokerage role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and PGA requirements.
- Experience with ACE, ABI software platforms, and standard freight forwarding systems.
Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
