Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Rapid City on a part-time basis. Our firm offers personalized tax, financial, and estate planning services tailored to each client's unique situation and coordinated with their trusted advisors. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting our business, trust and estate clients, working closely with our business bookkeeping month-end close, tax, estate, and financial planning teams to deliver accurate accounting, and high-quality client service. This individual will combine strong technical accounting skills with sound judgment and clear communication.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Month-end Close Oversight: Provideleadership, management and accountability to bookkeeping colleagues as part of the month-end close process for the various business clients of the firm
- Client Coordination: Collaborate with financial planners, trustees, beneficiaries, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure timely and accurate trust administration
- Distribution Support: Calculate and process trust distributions, ensuring compliance with trust documents and tax requirements
- Work Preparation & Review: Review client-provided financial data, identify discrepancies, and ensure information is accurate and complete
- Process Improvement: Support the development and implementation of trust accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls
- Trust Accounting: Maintain accurate accounting records for client trusts and estates, including cash reconciliations, journal entries, principal vs. income allocations, and supporting documentation in accordance with applicable fiduciary accounting standards
- Fiduciary Reporting: Prepare periodic trust accounting and beneficiary statements; assist with court accountings when required
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification or candidacy preferred
- 2 years of accounting experience; audit experience preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and accounting software (QuickBooks Online/Desktop preferred)
