Job Summary
Freeport Youth Lacrosse (FYLAX) is seeking an energetic and dedicated Head Coach to lead and inspire our student-athletes in developing their lacrosse skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
This role involves fostering a positive team environment and promoting athletic excellence. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for coaching, strong leadership abilities, and experience working with youth athletes. As a key member of our athletic department, you will motivate students to achieve their personal best both on and off the field while emphasizing safety, discipline, and character development.
Responsibilities
- Ability to obtain and Submit all Freeport Area School District clearance requirements (https://www.freeport.k12.pa.us/employment/clearances)
- Building a staff (assistant coaches) that can also meet District clearance requirements
- Develop and implement comprehensive lacrosse training sessions tailored to various skill levels, emphasizing fundamental techniques and advanced strategies.
- Lead team practices, games, and tournaments with enthusiasm and professionalism, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
- Foster a team culture centered on sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork while promoting healthy competition.
- Monitor athlete progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback to support individual growth.
- Ensure all activities adhere to safety protocols, maintaining a safe environment for all players.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff regarding team updates, schedules, and performance expectations.
- Manage behavior and promote good conduct among athletes through effective behavior management strategies.
- Coordinate with other coaches and the school district to facilitate lacrosse-specific training instruction.
Experience
- Prior coaching experience in lacrosse or other team sports at the high school level is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing sports teams
- Experience working with student-athletes
- Knowledge of lacrosse coaching techniques
- Strong communication skills for effective player communication; experience in behavior management is beneficial for maintaining a positive team environment.
