Reports To: Vessel Supervisor / Operations Manager / Marine Director (as applicable)
Position Summary
The Vessel Relief Master/Mate is responsible for leading and supporting daily vessel and launch operations, ensuring vessel readiness, and directing safe, compliant, and efficient launch, cargo, and loadout activities. This role incorporates all Launch Employee Requirements and serves as a senior operational leader across vessel, yard, and launch functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Vessel readiness, inspections, maintenance coordination, and certifications
- Lead and support launch, loadout, and cargo operations
- Create and manage launch schedules and confirmations
- Oversee cargo manifests, backload documentation, and load diagrams
- Serve as primary communication link between crews, yard, agents, terminals, and management
- Maintain accurate operational, safety, and payroll documentation
- Enforce safety, PPE, permits, and compliance standards
- Support yard, vessel, and equipment upkeep
- Lead toolbox talks, briefings, and post-operation reviews
- Support on-call, after-hours, and night launch operations
Qualifications & Experience
- Master Mariner or equivalent license preferred
- Senior vessel operations or port captain experience acceptable
- Strong understanding of maritime regulations and launch operations
- Proven leadership, communication, and coordination skills
Training & Compliance
- Completion of all required Moxie and company training
- Participation in safety meetings and competency assessments
- Maintain required certifications and endorsements

Pay: $175.00 - $275.00 per day
