Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Service Writer to join our fast-paced dealership team. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and customer service will drive efficient communication, accurate auto estimating, and successful upselling of services. Duties
- Greet customers warmly and listen attentively to understand their vehicle concerns and service needs
- Write detailed and accurate service orders, including auto estimating for repairs such as transmissions, oil changes, brake repairs, suspension work, tire services, and more
- Communicate effectively with technicians regarding vehicle diagnostics and repair requirements
- Upsell additional services by explaining benefits clearly and confidently to enhance customer satisfaction and dealership revenue
- Manage cash handling processes accurately while maintaining proper documentation of all transactions
- Coordinate with parts department to ensure timely availability of necessary components for repairs
- Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns promptly
Qualifications
- Proven dealership experience as a Service Writer or in automotive service management
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including transmissions, diesel engines, air brakes, shocks & struts, alignment, suspension, and auto body repair
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Experience in auto estimating software and automotive repair workflows
- Ability to upsell services effectively while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Familiarity with mechanic work such as oil changes, tire service, brake repair, and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Basic cash handling skills with attention to accuracy in transactions
