What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Engineer position at FreeFlight Systems?
Summary: Develop and document manufacturing procedures in an AS9100C environment to achieve consistent, high-quality, best-cost processing. Serve as a focal point of communication between manufacturing and other functions, facilitating efficient implementation of new products and processes. Plan and coordinate elements of type designs, materials and manufacturing processes as required to evaluate and solve production problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the development of manufacturing instructions and manufacturing engineering practices.
- Prepare quotations for labor, tooling and equipment to support the business unit requirements.
- Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews.
- Evaluate and approve drawings, routings/AI, specs and other documents.
- Design and procure tools/equipment.
- Write appropriation requests.
- Evaluate and solve production problems.
- Train assemblers or conduct training to introduce new processes.
- Prepare/manufacture prototypes as required utilizing the principals of concurrent engineering.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The applicant must possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Candidates must have a strong command of computer desktop tools such as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) to assist in completing essential duties.
- Effectively demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a willingness to constantly be learning.
- Syteline experience is a preferred but not required.
- Working knowledge of change processes such as ECN.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be knowledgeable of accepted best practices for manufacturing avionics
- Must have knowledge of computers, machining and assembly practices and tools.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and make presentations.
- Ability to work with suppliers, customers and employees.
- IPC Training or military equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering or related fields or 4 years of directly related experience.
- Subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Desire experience in the aircraft industry regulated by the FAA.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel domestically 10-20%.
