Duties
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC components using schematics and electronic testing tools.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, wheel alignments, and general vehicle inspections to ensure optimal performance.
- Repair and fabricate heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and industrial machinery using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems and perform electrical repairs on automotive and industrial equipment to resolve operational issues efficiently.
- Assist in assembly and disassembly of equipment components during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols.
- Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts or other heavy equipment safely during maintenance tasks or transportation of parts.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document repairs accurately to ensure compliance with safety standards and warranty requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a dealership technician or in heavy equipment repair with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to read schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery including Caterpillar or similar brands.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding, cutting, soldering, and assembly of various mechanical components.
- Hands-on experience with excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, tractor-trailers, or similar heavy-duty vehicles.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
- Knowledge of hydraulics systems, air brake systems, suspension adjustments, alignment procedures, HVAC systems, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform physically demanding tasks regularly.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Valid certifications in automotive repair or heavy equipment operation are preferred; ongoing training is encouraged to stay current with industry advancements.
