Job Summary:
Under the direction of the principal and teacher(s), the Elementary Aide assists teachers in a variety of capacities in the instruction and supervision of students. Attendance, physical presence, and timeliness are required and are essential functions of this position. As school needs change, your job description and essential functions could change from year to year to include Playground, Lunchroom, Classroom, STEM, Art, etc.)
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the preparation of instructional materials.
- Assists in the instruction of students and other classroom activities as needed.
- May tutor students individually or in small groups under the direction of the teacher.
- Assists with physical and emotional maintenance of students with disabilities including assessing curriculum and participating in school or classroom activities.
- Assist students needing supplemental help with various school subjects and programs.
- Assist in the administration of a variety of tests and monitor students’ academic progress.
- Keeps accurate data on assigned students or groups of students.
- Supports a school environment that helps students develop and maintain a positive self-concept.
- Support classroom behavior management to maintain a positive and focused learning environment.
- Maintains professional confidentiality regarding student information.
- Maintains effective and positive communication with students, teachers, parents, patrons and administration.
- Positive interaction with students, teachers, social workers, psychologists, support personnel and administrators.

- Effectively implements interventions and strategies as outlined in Individualised Education Plans (IEP), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), or other student success plans.
- Collects behavior data and provides reports and/or graphs of the data to school personnel for use in developing behavior intervention plans.
- Provides feedback about specific student needs.
- May assist in on-the-job training to other paraeducators as appropriate.
- Responds to critical situations in a variety of locations on a temporary, as needed basis.
- Demonstrates flexibility, the ability to work independently and problem solve.
- During times of emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities.
- Supervision of a student in a location outside the classroom as needed.

Responsible for providing support to the art teacher in delivering a comprehensive and engaging art education program for elementary school students. This role involves assisting with the setup and cleanup of art materials, providing individualized support to students, and maintaining a positive and inclusive art studio environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in preparing materials and setting up the art studio for lessons.
- Ensure the availability and organization of art supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Help maintain a clean and safe art classroom environment.
- Provide individualized assistance to students during art activities.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages creativity and self-expression.
- Assist in managing student behavior and reinforcing classroom rules.

- Frequently move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the classroom for various needs.
- May work in outdoor weather conditions.
- Aides in Special Education and P.E. may be required to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Previous related experience is desired.
