Duties
- Coordinate and schedule freight pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine
- Utilize GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely dispatching
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and customers via multi-line phone systems while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette
- Enter data accurately into logistics platforms including AS400 and transportation management software to track shipments, update statuses, and maintain records
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies and 3PL (Third-Party Logistics) requirements
- Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and support transportation planning initiatives
- Oversee fleet management activities by coordinating maintenance schedules, tracking vehicle usage, and ensuring compliance with safety standards
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment; familiarity with freight operations is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms like SyteLine or AS400
- Proficiency with GPS technology, GIS tools, and route optimization techniques for effective transportation planning
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally and courteously
- Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating logistics data to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Ability to perform data entry accurately under tight deadlines while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and supply chain fundamentals
