We are Freedom Detox LLC and we are trying to fill many positions as quickly as possible. FDX is a 6-bed coed detox and residential facility for inpatient level of care.
Job Responsibilities and Duties: Med Tech
Facility: Freedom Detox LLC (Detoxification and Residential Inpatient Treatment Center)
Overview: Medication Technicians are essential members of the multidisciplinary treatment team. They are responsible for ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for clients undergoing detoxification and residential treatment.
While their primary functions for this role is required a high level of professionalism, ethical conduct, and collaboration to facilitate client care and support the clinical program.
Medication/Clinical Technician (Med/Clinical Tech) Responsibilities
The Medication/Clinical Technician operates under the direct supervision of the nursing staff (RN, LVN, LPT) and the Medical Director. Their primary responsibility is the safe and accurate management and administration of client medications in strict accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
A. Core Duties: Medication Management
- Medication Observation & Administration: Observe the self-administration of prescribed medications by clients, ensuring the correct client, medication, dosage, route, and time ("Five Rights of Medication Administration").
- Documentation: Accurately and contemporaneously document all administered medications on the Medication Administration Record (MAR). Record any client refusal, adverse reactions, or medication errors immediately and report to the nursing supervisor.
- Vital Signs: Competently obtain and document client vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, oxygen saturation) as required by policy, especially prior to administering specific medications.
- Inventory and Storage: Maintain the security and inventory of all client medications. Conduct regular medication counts, especially for controlled substances, at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Ordering and Receiving: Assist the nursing staff in ordering, receiving, and logging new medications from the pharmacy, verifying accuracy against the physician's order.
- Client Education: Provide basic, approved information to clients regarding their medications, such as the medication's name and purpose, while deferring clinical questions to the nursing or medical staff.
B. Core Duties: Client Observation and Reporting
- Detoxification Monitoring: Observe clients for signs and symptoms of withdrawal, intoxication, or adverse reactions to medication. Immediately report any significant changes or concerns to the nursing staff.
- Collaboration: Communicate effectively with nursing, clinical, and medical staff regarding client status, medication compliance, and any observed behavioral changes.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, providing basic first aid and CPR as certified, and assist nursing staff as directed.
Other Responsibilities (Applicable to Role)
- Confidentiality: Uphold all aspects of client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
- Professionalism: Maintain professional and ethical boundaries with clients and staff at all times.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in shift-change meetings and staff meetings, communicating all pertinent information to ensure continuity of care.
- Facility Upkeep: Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility to ensure a safe and respectful living environment for clients.
- Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, as well as licensing and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, DHCS).
- Training: Complete all required initial and ongoing trainings, including but not limited to CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention, and cultural competency.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have an allied healthcare certification or registration
Medical Assistant/ Nursing Assistant/ EMT/ Med Technician /Home Health Aide/Caregiver), required.
Even Community Health Worker, Patient Care Tech Assistant, Certified Wellness Coach
- Must have or be willing to obtain a credential for behavioral health such as
RADT by CCAPP / SUDRC by CADTP / QMHS by CCAPP / CMHRS by CCAPP / , required.
- Must have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS/BCLS) and First Aid certification.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience in inpatient level of care setting.
- Must maintain high level of professional boundaries, ethical code of conduct, and empathy.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Per diem, PRN
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
