Position Summary
- Coordinates safe transportation of IOP patients to and from their residences/appointments as well as meal pick up.
- Provides assistance to mental health services staff for patient care activities.
- The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the transporting of patients to and from the facility site, assistance in the overall day-to-day functioning of the program including aiding other staff in patient chart production, meal provision, answering telephones and supervision of patients during staff break periods.
- The Mental Health Worker/Transportation Driver is responsible for communicating to staff any problematic or clinical issues that occur during his/her supervision of or transportation of patients.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current, valid state driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) required.
- Current CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association. (Will provide service or renewal if needed)
- Transporting patients or passengers in a 10–12 passenger van or similar vehicle. (Preferred)
- 1–2 years of driving or transportation experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or similar setting. (Preferred)
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and demonstrate patience and compassion with patients
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
- Basic problem-solving and decision-making skills in dynamic situations
- Basic computer skills for documentation and scheduling systems
- Understanding of basic medical and psychiatric conditions preferred
