At Freedom Healthcare, we are expanding our behavioral health services across multiple states and seeking a dynamic, results-driven leader to join our executive team as a Corporate Nursing Director.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced healthcare business development professional to lead strategic growth initiatives, support new program development, and drive marketing performance across a multi-state behavioral health organization.
Position Summary
The Corporate Nursing Director provides strategic leadership and system-wide oversight of nursing services across multiple acute inpatient psychiatric hospitals. This role ensures high standards of patient care, nursing practice, staffing, safety, and regulatory compliance while supporting continuous survey readiness and evidence-based clinical operations. The Director collaborates with executive leadership to drive quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, workforce development, and operational excellence across all facilities. This position also oversees nursing policies, competency programs, clinical audits, and leadership development to support safe, high-quality behavioral health care throughout the organization.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership and oversight for nursing services across all facilities within the healthcare system
- Develop and maintain a unified nursing vision, philosophy, and strategic plan across all hospitals
- Ensure implementation of evidence-based psychiatric nursing practices system-wide
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on clinical operations, staffing, patient care, and nursing performance
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, DNV, CMS, state psychiatric regulations, and all nursing standards
- Lead system-wide survey readiness activities including tracers, mock surveys, documentation audits, and corrective action planning
- Oversee suicide prevention standards, ligature risk mitigation, restraint and seclusion compliance, medication management, and patient rights practices
- Monitor nursing quality indicators, patient safety metrics, and clinical performance dashboards across all facilities
- Lead or participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA), sentinel event reviews, FMEAs, and performance improvement initiatives
- Develop and oversee staffing models, acuity-based assignments, scheduling standards, and workforce planning
- Ensure all nursing staff maintain competencies, credentialing requirements, annual education, and compliance training
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, mentoring, and leadership development for Directors of Nursing, Nurse Managers, Assistant Directors of Nursing, Infection Control Nurses, and QAPI nurses
- Partner with Human Resources to improve recruitment, retention, succession planning, and nursing leadership development
- Develop, standardize, and maintain nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols to ensure evidence-based practice and regulatory compliance
- Facilitate communication, collaboration, and operational alignment across all nursing departments and facilities
- Provide oversight and support for Infection Control and APIC/IC programs across all Freedom facilities
- Audit nursing documentation, internal tracers, incident and accident reports, and medical records to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Monitor and ensure compliance with nursing KPIs, reporting requirements, and corporate RAP utilization across all facilities
- Participate in nursing department budgeting, resource allocation, and operational efficiency planning
- Ensure timely completion of corporate meetings, reporting, and communication expectations
- Support the development and implementation of nursing and clinical orientation platforms and educational initiatives
- Drive initiatives focused on improving patient safety outcomes, survey readiness, and reduction of nursing leadership turnover company-wide
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by executive leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN Master's degree strongly preferred)
- Active RN License in relevant states (Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi)
- 5-8 years experience in senior nursing leadership

Travel Requirements
This position is remote-based; however, extensive travel is required. The Corporate Nursing Director must be willing and able to travel approximately 90% or more to facilities and communities throughout the organization’s service areas.
Candidates must be flexible with travel scheduling and understand that overnight travel is frequently required. Depending on business needs, this position may require overnight stays of up to four (4) nights per week.
