Position Summary
Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Greenville is seeking an experienced Employee Health / Infection Control / Quality Nurse to support employee wellness, infection prevention, and quality performance initiatives.
This role is responsible for managing employee health programs, infection control surveillance, and supporting quality improvement and regulatory readiness efforts in alignment with Joint Commission, CDC, OSHA, and State requirements. This is a flex position, with hours determined by facility needs and approved budget.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Health
- Manage and maintain the facility’s Employee Health Program
- Conduct employee physicals, TB testing, immunizations, and health screenings
- Maintain confidential employee health and exposure records
- Provide follow-up care for employees returning from illness, injury, or maternity leave
Infection Control
- Conduct infection surveillance, data collection, and reporting
- Complete monthly infection control inspection rounds and reports
- Educate staff on infection prevention practices and inspection findings
- Ensure compliance with CDC, OSHA, Joint Commission, and State regulations
- Coordinate with APIC-certified Infection Control consultants
- Notify appropriate agencies of reportable/communicable diseases
- Provide infection control education to new hires and annually
Quality & Performance Improvement
- Support Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities
- Assist with audits, tracers, and regulatory readiness
- Track, trend, and report quality and infection-related metrics
- Participate in policy review, performance improvement initiatives, and corrective action planning
- Collaborate with leadership to identify risks and improvement opportunities
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
- Graduation from an approved Practical/Vocational Nursing Program
- Current LPN/LVN license in the State of Mississippi
(RN preferred but not required)
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience preferred
- Experience in employee health, infection control, quality, or compliance preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills
- Ability to manage confidential information
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Proficient with EMR systems and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
- Exposure Category II (potential exposure to blood or bodily fluids)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs as needed
