Job Overview
Wheelchair Van Driver / Independent Wheelchair Van Operator (must be 21 or older with clean MVR)
Medi-Van Driver needed Kane, Dupage, Will and Cook Counties. This position is an hourly employee. Previous driving experience is helpful, but will train the right person. Must have clean MVR, and be able to pass DOT physical with pre-employment drug screen. Background check will be performed. We offer four day work weeks. We are looking for dependable people that like to help others. We transport disabled, day rehab patients and senior citizens to various appointments. Interested parties should email resume for consideration. We currently have openings for first and second shift drivers. Full time / Part time (retirees welcome) positions are available. (Flexible schedules available) Part time = have openings for week days, and afternoons. Full time drivers in certain locations can keep van at their home. Duties
- Safely operate a range of commercial vehicles including box trucks, tractor-trailers, dump trucks, limousines, flatbeds, and tanker trucks across designated routes
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using pallet jacks, forklifts, or manual handling techniques while adhering to safety protocols
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic mechanical checks to ensure optimal performance and safety standards are maintained
- Deliver goods or passengers promptly while maintaining excellent communication with dispatch and clients
- Assist with moving equipment or freight within warehouses or job sites as needed
- Maintain accurate logs of mileage, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records in compliance with company policies
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations during route driving or shuttle operations
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including shuttle driving, freight delivery, or bus driving roles
- Strong mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues and performing basic maintenance checks
- Familiarity with heavy haul operations, forklift operation, pallet jacks, and manual transmission vehicles
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to load & unload cargo efficiently using appropriate tools such as forklifts or hand trucks
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including dump trucks, tow trucks, yard jockeys, or tanker trucks is a plus
- Experience with route driving in various environments such as military logistics, school bus routes, or heavy equipment transport
