What are the responsibilities and job description for the Donor Engagement Officer position at Free Speech TV?
Free Speech TV (FSTV), a Denver, Colorado-based independent news network, is seeking a Donor Engagement Officer.
This hybrid remote/in-person position on FSTV’s Development Team is responsible for managing a portfolio of 200-250 individual donors, occasional donor events, and FSTV’s planned giving initiative. The Donor Engagement Officer will join a collaborative team whose practice is grounded in donor- and community-centric fundraising theory. In short, we see our donors as people first, and as crucial members of our community.
Our FSTV staff of 15, as well as our mission, are dedicated to affecting social change through journalism, narrative shaping, and storytelling. As a result, FSTV is 85% individual-donor funded: Our viewers are not passive supporters, but activated social justice partners who are inspired by FSTV to become civically engaged.
This nation needs independent media now more than ever, and with its national platform, FSTV is uniquely positioned to meet this moment. To do that, we need to identify new revenue streams and grow. This role is a key part of a multi-year strategic plan to diversify FSTV revenue sources so we can further our mission to empower a multiracial democracy and build a more just, equitable world.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing a portfolio of about 250 leadership annual giving donors ($500–$9,999). This includes:
- Working with the Development Director and other team members to establish a cohesive strategy.
- Cultivating, stewarding, and strengthening donor relationships.
- Developing and executing creative engagement strategies.
- Communicating with donors regularly by phone, email, mail (including hand-written notes), and text communications.
- Contributing to the strategy, planning, execution, and evaluation of major gifts through regular collaboration with team members.
- Maintaining accurate and current documentation.
- Strategically leading FSTV’s matching gift program.
- Planning and executing quarterly virtual and/or in-person events.
- Communicating with external partners and vendors.
- Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of 4 years education and/or experience working with mid- to high-level donors, developing outreach campaigns, writing, and/or other related skills.
- Skilled at coordinating projects and teams to meet goals and deadlines.

Location
This is a hybrid remote/in-person position. At this time, this position is expected to be in the office at least 1 day per week at FSTV’s headquarters in Denver, Colorado, and remote 4 days per week. Occasional extra office days may be required. Free Speech TV will provide the necessary equipment to work from home as well as access to its headquarter offices Monday - Friday. The remote/in-person schedule is subject to change. Working hours are typically Monday - Friday from 9 am - 5 pm MT.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $62,720 - $72,755, commensurate with experience. This is an FLSA exempt position. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, short-term/long-term disability insurance, generous paid time off, and a 401 (k) retirement plan.
Additional benefits include nine (9) paid holidays, plus the week between Dec. 26 and Dec. 31; ten (10) to twenty (20) paid days off for employees, based on years served. Free Speech TV also provides paid Sick Leave, Personal Days, Parental Leave, Sabbatical Leave, and a 401(k) plan.
