Overview:
We are seeking a Paralegal experienced in real estate or other transactional work to support our Energy Department in the Des Moines office. This position will focus on the real estate aspects of renewable energy projects. This team member will assist and collaborate with attorneys and other paralegals to support clients in all phases of development related to renewable energy projects, including lease and easement drafting, title and survey review, and drafting curative documents. On the job training for real estate nuances relating to energy projects will be provided.

Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supporting and collaborating with attorneys and paralegals on the real estate aspects of renewable energy projects.
- Reviewing title commitments to confirm ownership, review encumbrances against the properties, and help identify deficiencies in underlying easement documents.
- Assist with preparing drafts of real estate documents such as easements, memoranda, affidavits, and other title corrective documents.
- Reviewing surveys to help identify concerns with easements and other site control documents.
- Support attorneys and other paralegals with tasks relating to organizing and managing real estate due diligence for large-scale projects.
- Assisting with preparation and tracking of real estate closing checklists and deliverables.
- Maintaining and organizing electronic document repositories.
- Collaborating with internal and external teams to ensure timely and accurate project deliverables.
- 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in real estate (including real estate closings, litigation and/or foreclosures) or transactional work.
- High attention to detail.
- Familiarity with online real property resources (county GIS websites; Iowa Land Records) and basic real estate legal descriptions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat; experience with project management tools is a plus.
- Self-motivation and a collaborative, positive attitude.
- Ability to be on-site in the Des Moines office at least two days per week.
