What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bus Fuel/Service Technician position at Fredericksburg Independent School District?
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantages from the District's curriculum and extracurricular programs. To provide routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency of school vehicles.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent desired
Special Knowledge/Skills: (May be required after hiring)
B-CDL license with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Annual physical exam
School bus driver certificate
Minimum Experience:
1 year as a technician or bus driver
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Service, fuel, maintain, wash and clean all school vehicles in the best condition possible.
- Maintain a program of preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Available to drive routes, know stops, and is able to maintain time schedule.
- Respond to needs related to job responsibilities.
- Follow safety codes and standards.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and serve as role model for all district staff.
- Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.

Physical Demands:
Strenuous walking, standing, bending over. Work outside and inside, exposure to dust, toxic chemicals and materials, slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Work alone. Frequent district-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours, and possible weekend work. Ability to conduct on-site inspections of all vehicles for safety and maintenance operations.
