Program Description
The Network and Telecommunictions Group (NTG) is a part of the Enterprise IT (EIT) Directorate within Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc. NTG is responsible for Operations and Engineering of the FNLCR Network and Unified Communications infrastructure. NTG focuses on implementing enterprise IT best practices in the areas of network infrastructure, unification of voice, teleconferencing, and video communication technologies.

Key Roles/Responsibilities
- Provides Tier II/III operational and engineering support for wired and wireless data communications networks
- Monitor, assign and implement Operations tickets in the Network queue
- Maintain/create proper documentation of system configurations, to include drawings and standard operating procedures
- Provide primary support in the maintenance of network hardware and software (Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Load Balancers, etc.)
- Work individually, actively participates in integrated teams and projects
- Participate/lead the design/engineering and implementation of special projects
- Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Core L3 Switches, Data Center Switches, Access/Edge Switches and Customer Edge (CE) Routers
- Actively involved in hardware refreshes to include Network Switches, Data Center Switches, Routers, Wireless APs, Firewalls, Load Balancers, IP Management and UPS/PDUs on a wide-scale enterprise level
- Available for periodic evening and weekend onsite maintenance work and on call support
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of eight (8) years of network experience
- Experience supporting Network Routers, Switches, Data Center Switches and Firewalls
- Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Extreme – Hands on experience configuring/troubleshooting/upgrading Switches, Routers, Wireless APs, SPBM Fabric
- Palo Alto – Hands on experience configuring/troubleshooting/upgrading Firewalls, Panorama, Log Collectors
- InfoBlox – Familiarity with DNS, DHCP and IP management (DDI)
- F5 – Experience with Virtual Servers, Load Balancing, Reverse Proxy
- Familiarity with Fiber Optic technologies: Single Mode (SM), Multi-Mode (MM), MPO/MTP
- Extreme Networks Certified Administrator (ENCA) or Extreme Networks Certified Professional (ENCP)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Hands-on experience with network switches and routers
- Installs, troubleshoots, maintains and coordinates the use and proper operation of Network Wired/Wireless environment
- Implements, documents, and coordinates Network Wired/Wireless policies, procedures, and standards
- Perform daily end user requests and proactive monitoring/troubleshooting
- Ability to create and execute detailed Change Requests (CRs) for the Network Infrastructure
