Program Description
The Financial Operations Directorate (FOD) within Leidos Biomedical Research (LBR) is committed to ensuring the financial integrity of the Frederick National Laboratory by providing timely, accurate, and relevant finance information to internal and external stakeholders. Our team collaborates to effectively monitor and manage fiscal resources in a responsible, compliant, and professional manner in a dynamic environment. We adhere to applicable contract, regulatory, and compliance requirements while supporting the broader mission of the FNL.

The salary range posted is a full-time equivalent salary and will vary depending on scheduled hours for part time positions

Key Roles/Responsibilities
- Costpoint Billing Analyst (Accounting II)
- LBR is seeking a detail-oriented Costpoint Billing Analyst to support billing operations for government contracts, including Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) and cost-reimbursable programs.
- This role is ideal for an early-career accounting or finance professional looking to deepen their expertise in government contracting and financial analysis.
- This position will report directly to the Assistant Controller and will work under general supervision at our Advanced Technology Research Facility in Frederick, Maryland.
- Prepare and review complex invoices in compliance with customer and contractual requirements
- Analyze unbilled receivables and resolve billing discrepancies using Costpoint reports
- Research and respond to internal and external billing inquiries
- Collaborate with project teams, contracts, and accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely billing
- Support collections efforts and help resolve outstanding issues
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger analysis
- Prepare journal entries and financial reports
- Evaluate and enter contract modifications and assess their accounting impact
- Perform administrative responsibilities as necessary
- Contribute to special projects and process improvements
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or four (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of two (2) years of accounting related experience is required
- Strong data entry and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- US Government Contract experience including Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
- Preferred a minimum of two (3) years of general accounting with responsibility for general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, cost accounting, or accounts receivable.
- Previous experience with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Prior experience with Deltek Costpoint
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Strong problem-solving skills, research and resolution skills, and data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including intermediate-level Excel skills.
