POSITION DETAILS:
Non-exempt; part-time; year-round position; working 2-10 hours per week; assigned hours may include weekdays, weekends/evening hours and events; no benefits.
NOTE: Hourly rate will be based upon activity type and the credentials of the candidate.

Subjects may include arts and crafts, movement, languages, music, travel, leadership, outdoor skills, and more. Classes will be offered at Beginner to Advanced levels for adult and active adult participants.
Qualifications vary by subject area, and all necessary equipment will be provided by the Division of Parks and Recreation. This role operates under the supervision of the Recreation Specialist.

- Assure the return and condition of issued equipment and supplies
- Compile and maintain recordkeeping related to each class (e.g. attendance)
- As needed, available for additional programming needs: teens, preschool, mom and me classes etc.
- Perform other related duties as required

- Minimum age 18 years
- Experience in a leadership role involving instruction related to your special skill or talent
- Experience planning and developing activity plans in your specialized area
- Experience providing instruction for adults, and/or active adult participants
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR (infant/child and adult), or able to become so certified within 60 days of hire (current certifications must be maintained throughout employment)
- NOTE: Certification relevant to your specialized skill area may be required based on the scope of the activity
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the subject matter and experience teaching or in a leadership role
- Possess knowledge of the developmental stages or learning styles of the target audience
- Ability to effectively prepare and carry out lesson plans (as appropriate)
- Ability to effectively lead and supervise large and small groups in recreational activities
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working/teaching relationships with coworkers, participants and their family members, and the general public
- Strong and effective spoken and written communication skills in order to conduct classes and perform related record-keeping
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Physical requirements include the ability to actively participate in the sport/activity presented as part of the instruction process, and to transport, set-up and take-down related equipment
- Ability and willingness to participate in program planning
- Ability to provide own transportation as needed
