Position Summary
Position Summary:
This position supports the Audio Production and Music programs by assisting in the F102 Piano / MIDI Lab and the F144 Recording Studio Control Room as appropriate. The Lab Assistant will work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community of audio production and music majors. In addition, the Lab Assistant will provide basic technical assistance to audio production and music majors in the lab, assist in the maintenance of lab equipment (including iLoks), and provide a clean lab environment conducive to learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
These are intended only as examples of the various types of job duties to be performed. The omission of the specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is a similar, related, or logical assignment to the position.
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Assist students with computer issues as needed.
2. Distribute iLoks as needed; return them to the appropriate cabinet.
3. Straighten room at the end of each day.
4. Ensure that the sign/in - sign/out book is up to date.
5. Inform music and audio production program managers of any equipment issues.
6. Ensure that students adhere to the no food / no drinks policy.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. High School diploma/GED
2. Familiarity with Mac OS X.
3. Background in audio / music production.
Desired Qualifications
1. Previous lab management experience
2. Background in music and/or audio production
3. Familiarity with Mac OS X Finder.
4. Knowledge of effective backup procedures
5. Basic knowledge of Auralia
6. Basic knowledge of Pro Tools
7. Basic knowledge of Logic
8. Basic knowledge of Reaper
9. Basic knowledge of Ableton Live
