About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Youth Counselor to join our team at Fred Finch San Diego Dual Diagnosis Program. This is a unique opportunity to work with at-risk teens with special needs in a residential treatment program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality care and ensure the safety of residents, staff, and site in accordance with policy.
- Implement treatment/behavior plans for each resident in collaboration with an experienced multidisciplinary team.
- Dispense medications when needed, help residents tend to their health and wellness, and manage their schedule or attend outside appointments or activities.
You will build relationships with residents and their families in a supportive environment that utilizes a strengths-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed approach and values compassion, respect, diversity, and accountability.
Requirements:
- A Valid Child Development Teaching Permit or Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Education with at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
- A Valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor with at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
- A Valid Vocational Training Certificate, credential, or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills with at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
- Previous employment as a staff or volunteer for a minimum of one (1) year at a group home or short-term residential therapeutic setting.
