Role Description The Associate Attorney is a full-time, on-site role based in Palos Hills, IL. This role involves managing a caseload focused on family law matters, including high-asset divorce, child custody and support, business owner representation, spousal maintenance, and related issues. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, financial affidavits, and settlement agreements, and preparing discovery requests and responses. The Associate Attorney will meet with clients, provide legal advice, develop case strategies, negotiate settlements, and appear in court for status hearings, motion practice, and trials under supervision as needed. The role also includes collaborating with the principal and other attorneys, coordinating with experts (such as business valuators and financial professionals), and maintaining organized case files and timely communication with clients.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Law and demonstrated interest or experience in Family Law, including divorce, custody, support, and asset protection.
- Ability to provide sound Legal Advice and client counseling, with a focus on complex financial and property issues.
- Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and procedural rules relevant to family law practice.
- Effective Negotiation skills for settlement discussions, mediation, and resolution of disputed issues between parties.
- Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing with the Illinois bar.
- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, and correspondence, and presenting arguments in court.
- Detail-oriented approach to financial analysis, discovery, and document review; comfort working with business valuation and asset tracing concepts is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple cases, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a small firm environment while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
- Prior family law experience, clerkships, or internships are preferred but not required for highly motivated candidates with strong
