TITLE: Accounting Manager


RESPONSIBLE TO: Controller


FLSA STATUS: Exempt/ Salaried               


POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:

 

The Accounting Manager is a full-time, exempt member of Frazier History Museum staff. The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing support to the Controller in the day-to-day operations of the museum. The Accounting Manager will provide essential support to senior directors to ensure revenue and expenses are recognized timely. In consultation with the Controller, the Accounting Manager has responsibility for maintaining internal controls and safeguarding the Museum's assets and financial infrastructure.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

·        Works with Controller and Accounting and Operations Specialist.

·        Completes account analysis daily on point-of-sale, event receipts, and contributions.

·        Insures accurate recognition of revenue and expenses.

·        Maintains general ledger and vendor accounts.

·        Completes state and federal tax reporting.

·        Assists in the month and year end close.

·        Maintains compliance of payroll and benefits.

·        Audits personnel files.

·        Audits banking information for accuracy between accounting system and bank accounts.

·        Compiles and maintains fixed assets and care of collection files.

·        Compiles and maintains records for federal, state and private grants

·        Other duties as assigned by the Controller.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


·        Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting.

·        3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization

·        Experience with grant accounting

·        Proficiency in Microsoft 360, including advanced Microsoft Excel.

·        Strong organizational, problem-solving, time-management, and project management abilities.

·        High degree of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.

·        Ability to lead and work collaboratively as part of a team, to solve problems and deliver solutions.

WORKING AND PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

·        Generally, work in an office setting from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, but must be available to work flexible/additional hours as needed.

·        Typical physical demands include sitting at desk, walking, standing, climbing stairs, hearing, and lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.

·        The position may require occasional travel, including trips to acquire supplies, go to functions, attend/coordinate events, all of which may be outside of and/or in addition to normal working hours.
