The Solutions Engineer will be responsible for generating technical solutions and preparing detailed cost estimates for warehouse racking systems and/or rack-supported building projects. This role bridges the gap between sales and engineering teams by understanding client requirements, preparing proposals, and ensuring solutions are technically sound and financially viable.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Create professional proposals and quotes for customers in a timely manner.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and requirements to develop accurate estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Track and manage bids and revisions, ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible.
- Conduct strategy meetings with upper management to determine best approach along with alternative solutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors.
- Support the sales team in meeting revenue targets.
- Provide technical guidance during the pre-sales process.
- Assist in the handoff of awarded projects to project management and operations teams.
- Work with procurement and suppliers to ensure up-to-date pricing and product availability.
- Support continuous improvement in estimating tools, processes, and databases.
- Review sales drawings to ensure consistency with proposals.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field (preferred).
- OR 5 years of experience in sales engineering, estimating, or project management within warehouse racking, material handling, or steel fabrication industries.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication and team development ability
- Understanding of more complex systems such as pick modules, two- and four-way shuttle systems, and automated storage and retrieval systems (preferred but not required)
