Title: Senior HR Generalist (Contract)
Location: New York, NY (Hybrid) -Midtown
Schedule: Minimum 4 days per week in office
Compensation: $75-$100/hr

Position Overview
A growing, fast-paced organization is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to serve as the primary HR Generalist and operational lead during a temporary leadership transition. This role will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of human resources activities for a small population.
This is a highly visible position that requires a well-rounded HR professional who is comfortable balancing strategic discussions with hands-on execution. The candidate will work closely with executive leadership and managers while providing day-to-day support across recruiting, payroll oversight, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and HR operations.
Key Responsibilities
Mergers & Acquisitions / Organizational Change
- Support HR-related activities associated with potential mergers, acquisitions, or strategic transactions.
- Assist with employee communications, workforce data requests, due diligence, organizational integration, and change management initiatives.
- Partner with leadership to ensure a smooth employee experience during periods of transition.
- Provide support on workforce planning and organizational assessments related to transaction activity.
Human Resources Operations
- Act as the primary HR contact for employees and managers across the organization.
- Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain employee records and support ongoing HR process improvements.
- Assist with workforce planning and organizational initiatives.
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for corporate, operations, technology, and business roles.
- Partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs and develop recruitment strategies.
- Coordinate interviews, offers, onboarding, and new hire integration.
- Maintain recruitment activity within the company's HRIS platform.
Payroll & Benefits Oversight
- Oversee payroll and benefits administration in partnership with existing HR team members.
- Review payroll processing for accuracy and compliance.
- Support employee benefits programs and serve as a resource for employee questions.
- Coordinate employee enrollments, changes, and related communications.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Advise managers and employees on workplace issues and employee concerns.
- Assist with performance management processes and employee development initiatives.
- Support corrective actions, documentation, and employee relations matters as needed.
- Coach managers on HR best practices and employee engagement.
Contractor & Compliance Management
- Oversee independent contractor administration and related documentation.
- Support audits, reporting requirements, and compliance initiatives.
- Ensure HR documentation and employment practices remain current and accurate.
HR Projects & Organizational Support
- Support leadership with special projects and business initiatives.
- Participate in organizational change efforts and process improvements.
- Assist with people-related planning and reporting activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 5 years of progressive HR Generalist experience.
- Strong experience across recruiting, employee relations, HR operations, payroll, and benefits.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Experience supporting a small to mid-sized workforce.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
- Experience with HRIS systems, preferably BambooHR or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
