Legal Recruitment Manager – New York Office
Overview:
A leading international law firm is seeking a Legal Recruitment Manager to oversee attorney recruiting and hiring, onboarding and integration, summer associate programs, law school recruitment (including OCI), and lateral hiring. This role will supervise and develop recruitment coordinators and assistants and collaborate across offices to align recruitment strategies with firm-wide goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Summer Associate Program
- Design, manage, and evaluate all aspects of the Summer Associate Program, including:
- Pre-arrival communications
- Orientation
- Mentoring programs with partners and associates
- Social and community service events
- Diversity initiatives
- Educational and firm-wide programming
- Partner with Hiring Partners, Summer Program Co-Chairs, and Practice Managers to generate substantive work assignments and observational opportunities.
- Manage the evaluation and offer process for summer associates.
Law School & Judicial Clerk Recruitment (Including OCI)
- Lead the firm’s OCI strategy and execution, including:
- Coordination with law school career services
- On-campus and in-office interviews
- Offer extension and follow-up
- Post-season metrics review and analysis
- Support branding initiatives and targeted law school communications.
- Collaborate with the Inclusion & Opportunity team to implement recruiting initiatives.
- Ensure accurate hiring data and reporting.
- Propose and implement outreach strategies for law students and interns, including email campaigns and student group engagement.
General Recruitment & Management
- Supervise and train recruitment coordinators and assistants.
- Collaborate with recruitment managers across offices to align efforts and share best practices.
- Manage recruitment budgets and monitor monthly accounts.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Manage firm-wide and department-wide recruitment projects as assigned.
Lateral Attorney Hiring
- Manage aspects of non-partner and partner lateral attorney recruitment, onboarding, and integration.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with search firms to source candidates.
Qualifications:
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, written, and analytical skills.
- Effective oral communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work independently.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and applicant tracking systems (e.g., LawCruit, viDesktop); experience with WebEx and Flo Recruit is a plus.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of two years’ management experience and three years’ relevant legal recruitment or personnel experience.
